12 days of fixing Kampala Potholes!

Day one: Site visit with a swarm of engineers and Kadogos. Road closed for hours as the "engineers" clad in reflector jackets to make serious assessments of the extent of the damage!

Day Two: The Kadogos return with paint/chalk and draw big squares and rectangles around the potholes while sipping on Munanansi, a local pineapple juice brew while singing away some local vibes.

Day Three: The Supervisors return to ensure the markings of the Potholes done by the Kadogos are proper. Off they leave in their white double cabins, around five of them.

Day Four: The Kadogos return to "trim" the Potholes into perfect squares and rectangles, only to find the markings swept away by rain. So they do the markings again.

Day Five: The Kadogos return to do the actual  trimming of the Potholes with one cutting machine and a peak axe.

Day Six: The Kadogos return with some "soil" which they later dump at the site and off they go leaving the road messy!

Day Seven: The Kadogos return to fill the Potholes to create a sub-grade using spades and hoes.

Day Eight: The Kadogos return with a compactor to compact the sub-grade and it is a day's job.

Day Nine: The Engineers now show up as it is one of the big days for everyone; "applying of the tack coating."

Day Ten: The Supervisors, Engineers and Kadogos are all present and are now applying asphalt like something. It is a days job.

Day Eleven: The Kadogos now return  to compact the patches and while at it, some of the asphalt  was swept away by the rain in the previous night, but they continue with those that still kept intact.

Day Twelve: The supervisors of the supervisors come to inspect the patches and spend the whole day jotting down some stuff in their handful of papers. It is now a black patched uneven road, but oh well, at least the Potholes are gone!

This cycle will be repeated in 2 months for the upcoming potholes on the same road!

Dont take it to the heart, laugh and pick a lesson!
